Old News - 2008 part 2

The paint on Heidi's bonnet had blistered where the spare tyre had been, so this was our project for the weekend. Off came the bonnet (easy on a Laro) and the offending area was rubbed-down and primered. While we were at it we took the opportunity to turn the axe mount around which, for some reason, had beed fixed onto the bonnet the wrong way round. Photos are here.
We also started to remove all the carpets in readiness for Heidi's return to looking like a fighting machine.

Nothing to report on the vehicles front at the moment. Our recent energies have been concentrated into making an animated film. Inspiration from the late, great Robert Calvert. Lorraine was set-designer/artistic director, and I was director/cinematographer/editor. You can watch it here or leave us a comment on YouTube.

The MAG mount is now in the back of Heid, where it belongs. After all these years we're actually getting Heidi to look similar to how she did when in the Dutch Army. The only large part needed now is the grille for the front. Photos will appear here in the next few days.
After losing count of how many punctures we've had this year, the general consensus seems to be to go for G90s (currently fitted to British Army Wolves) but will they LOOK right?

Heidi will be back with us tomorrow. She’s been at RST Land Rovers for over a week getting a new door. A week for a new door? Yep: after receiving a small dent, and the other person’s insurance company agreeing to pay for a new door, Heidi went in last Tuesday for a swap. Trouble was: the new door had been damaged somehow (no-one at the garage was sure how) so they kept her for a couple of days until a second door could be bought and painted. When door number 2 arrived it was the wrong colour! Much arguing with the paint supplier followed, and in the end RST got fed-up with it all and went to a different supplier. The new paint company mixed us some lovely RAL6014 and Heidi is no longer a two-tone Land Rover.
